Abstract

The geography and chemistry departments of my high school (Erasmiaans Gymnasium, Rotterdam) are preparing a small fieldwork in the Eiffel in Germany. Task for the students is to determine acidity, temperature, of the lake waters. We are going to visit a couple of lakes. Students have to compare the maar lakes with non volcanic lakes, and explain where the acidity and higher CO2 content comes from. That is where the volcanic origin of these lakes comes in.

In order to set up this small fieldwork, I'm in need of some chemical data of the Eiffel maar lakes. So far I could not find (recent) papers on water chemistry of these lakes (mostly climate reconstruction using varves, tehprostratigraphy, etc.).

I'd be really happy with every suggestion for papers/authors.

Many thanks,
