Abstract

The MEaSUREs Greenland Ice Mapping Project (GIMP) Land Ice and Ocean Classification Mask, Version 1 is now available in GIS friendly vector format (shape files) on Ghub! Shape files were converted from 30 m resolution raster masks and provide in WGS 84/UTM N24 (EPSG: 32624) and  WGS 84/NSIDC Sea Ice Polar Stereographic North (EPSG: 3413).

Data can be downloaded from the GHub-GrISObs Globus Endpoint. Data are accessible to all logged in users of Globus. For more information on how to obtain data from Ghub visit Accessing Data web page.

This dataset is part of the NASA Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) program. It provides complete land ice and ocean classification mask for the Greenland ice sheet, for 1 July 1999 to 30 September 2002 and 15 January 2013 to 30 September 2015. The masks were generated from a combination of USGS Landsat 7 ETM+ panchromatic band imagery, and the Canadian Space Agency's (CSA) RADARSAT-1 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) amplitude images.
