Abstract
These test blasts were conducted in 2017, in preparation for the 2018 NSF Workshop on Volcano Hazards Field-Scale Experiments.
For one event, six PETN charges (0.44 MJ energy each) were placed into prepared test beds ("pads"), made of unconsolidated crushed rock material. Charges were placed at varying lateral locations and depths to optimize conditions. Once placed charges were detonated one after another at delay times of several tenths of a second.
