About the Group

Public Description

This is a group for the Tephra 2014 workshop, held in Portland, OR, 3-7 August 2014.

Participants in the 4-day workshop discussed major developments, best practices, and future directions/needs in tephra studies from the perspectives of volcanology, tephrochronology, and Quaternary sciences. By bringing together a broad array of scientists who study tephra for different purposes, we hope to build on the cooperation expressed at the workshop to enhance interdisciplinary collaboration and data sharing.

The workshop included a broad representation of scientists and students who work with tephra. Volcanologists, tephrochronologists, archaeologists, geochronologists, paleoclimatologists, paleoecologists, paleolimnologists, glaciologists, petrologists, Quaternary scientists and data managers attended.
