The 4th Workshop on Collapse Calderas is scheduled for September 23-29, 2012, at the charming Hotel Royal in Bolsena, on the shore of the Bolsena Lake. Bolsena is an appealing typical Italian middle-aged village on the edge of the most collapsed part of the Bolsena caldera, that is the most distinctive feature of the Vulsini Calderas District, located 100 km north of Rome .
The Vulsini District is a worldwide famous type-locality where many fundamental concepts on the eruptive dynamics, particularly those related to caldera-forming episodes, have been proposed. These include the definition of the criteria to describe, classify and interpret the pyroclastic deposits, as well as their modalities of transport and sedimentation. |
