About the Group

Public Description

New Volcanoes are special, as they provide the opportunity to observe their growth and eruptions throughout their lifespan.

Currently, we have 7 new volcanoes (based on the IAVCEI/GVP classification system) that have formed in human records; Unnamed Syrian Volcanic Field num.1, Dallol, Novarupta, Waiowa, Izalco, Cerro Negro, Tor Zawar.

The group also includes newly discovered volcanoes, although, this will be an uncommon feature as we are close to finding all of Earth’s Holocene Volcanoes.
